Research Profile

Under the influence of new approaches to the study of culture, classic philologies have undergone considerable change in the past twenty years. These have entailed the development of new theories, methods and models in literary and cultural studies, which contribute decisively to the IPP’s research profile.

GGK Sections

Sections are part of the programme of the Giessen Graduate Centre for the Humanities (GGK). They are bottom-up foundations of postgraduate students who work in the field of literary and cultural studies and are subject to change according to researchers’ interests. The approach varies from group to group but it usually allows contributions from a broad range of disciplines. While some focus on reading seminal texts on literary and cultural theory, others organise workshops, lectures or conferences. The IPP office supports all projects with logistics, information and advice.

All members of the IPP are required to take part in activities of at least one of the Sections of their own choice throughout their period of study in Giessen. More information on the sections and their relevant speakers is available here.
