To this end, the GCSC / IPP / GGK alumni programme offers several opportunities. First of all, we would invite you to keep your E-Portfolio updated. Secondly, we would ask you to fill in our alumni data form. Doing so will allow us to keep in touch with you, inform you of the latest offers and events, and provide you with the opportunity to share your ideas about the alumni programme. On top of that, we’ll shortly be offering an alumni newsletter, which will include information on alumni events: Once or twice a year, we would like to welcome you back at Giessen to ‘homecoming’ events at which you’ll meet again former fellow students and friends, indulge in leisurely activities and inspiring academic discussions. We’d also love to have you as a lecturer and if you’d be interested in giving workshops or classes here at Giessen, you can do so in coordination with JLU’s centre for “Wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung”. To ensure smooth communication between our alumni and the GCSC, IPP and GGK, two Alumni representatives will be available. Prof. Dr. Roy Sommer (GGK/JLU Alumnus) has already volunteered for this position!
Simon Cooke has been a doctoral candidate on the International PhD Programme in Literary and Cultural Studies at JLU Gießen, where he held a scholarship at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) and a part-time post as a research assistant in the English Department. He holds a BA from Hull University and an MA from University College London. From November 2009 to October 2010 he had the position of the IPP Research Coordinator. His primary area of research and teaching is on contemporary travel writing. In 2010 he finished his dissertation on “Questions of Travel in the work of Bruce Chatwin, V.S. Naipaul and W.G. Sebald”.Are you an IPP-Alumnus or -Alumna yourself? If so we would love to hear from you and keep you informed about the latest developments at the IPP.
